We focus on working together to raise money and support our communities.
Earlier this year, we asked our employees to nominate the charity they would most like to support. There were so many different suggestions, that it was hard to pick just one. As a result, we have chosen to support several different charities.
All our charities have a special connection to our employees - whether they are local to their area, or, have touched their own lives in some way.
We work very closely with three Brighton-based homeless charities, Off The Fence, Brighton Housing Trust and The Clock Tower Sanctuary. These charities help vulnerable homeless people access the expertise that they need and play a key role in helping the homeless turn their lives around long term.
As a Brighton-based charity, Off The Fence is enormously grateful to CANCOM for the ongoing interest in and support for our work with the homeless, vulnerable women and children of the City. Martin Hess and his team have consistently gone beyond the call of duty in providing crucial practical encouragement to us over the last few challenging months - including a staff volunteer team lowering themselves off the i360 with me as part of a fundraising event in September. We value our ongoing relationship with CANCOM very highly and regard them as significant advocates of our ongoing mission to alleviate poverty and social injustice in Brighton & Hoveoff the fence
CANCOM has also pledged its support to three further employee nominated Charities. These are:
Our regular donation to Embrace CVOC will ensure local children left traumatised after suffering terrible crimes can receive specialist support including counselling, practical help and time away with family.
The charity helps thousands of children and families each year who have nowhere else to turn.
Wood Green, The Animals Charity is an English animal welfare charity.
The shelter rehomes a variety of animals and it also educates, advises and supports pet owners to help make a difference to the lives of pets and people across the UK.
Is the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity in the UK, who support research to help save lives and improve the quality of life for those affected by the disease. We have supported this charity since 2007 from the very beginning of Novosco. A close member of our team died from bowel cancer so it was in memory of Rosy that this came about. We get involved every year in supporting this great cause by participating in rowathons, bike rides and other fitness challenges during our Health and Wellbeing week.
Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer. It also looks at the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have, and campaigns for better cancer care. We have supported Macmillan since 2007 also, after conducting a staff survey to gauge what charity employees wanted to support through fundraising. Macmillan is a charity close to a lot of people’s hearts through personal, friends or family’s experience. Two of our employees have recovered from cancer with the support of Macmillan. We always get involved in the annual coffee mornings, bake sales, quizzes and fancy dress competitions in order to support this worthwhile cause.
London’s Air Ambulance Charity operates a helicopter emergency medical service dedicated to responding to serious trauma emergencies in and around London.
An important part of a company’s culture is helping those groups not as fortunate as we are. We actively support local charities with both money and time.Martin Hess, MD, Cancom
